Herring River Restoration Project, Wellfleet

Project Applicant: National Park Service and Herring River Restoration Committee (including the towns of Wellfleet and Truro) 
Project Location: Herring River watershed located within the towns of Wellfleet and Truro (including land in the Cape Cod National Seashore) 
Project Description: Proposed habitat restoration and reestablishment of tidal flow to the 1,100-acre Herring River estuary and floodplain. Proposed restoration actions include reconfiguration of the Chequessett Neck Road dike and tide gates, replacement of additional upstream culverts, addition of other upstream tidal control structures, wetlands restoration, and mitigation to low-lying roadways, structures, and private properties.
