Workshop: Outer Cape Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan, Oct. 30

Representatives from Provincetown, Truro, Wellfleet, the Cape Cod National Seashore and the Cape Cod Commission will host the first in a series of public workshops on the Outer Cape Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at the Truro Community Center , 7 Standish Way, from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.

The National Park Service, through the Cape Cod National Seashore, is partnering with the towns and Commission to develop plans for an interconnected bicycle/pedestrian network linking the towns with the Seashore, the Cape Cod Rail Trail, and other destinations within the communities.

The Master Plan project is funded by a Paul S. Sarbanes Transit in the Parks Program grant, a Federal Transit Administration program established to address increasing vehicle congestion in and around national parks and other federal lands. To comply with federal mandates, Cape Cod National Seashore staff will conduct an environmental assessment.

Workshop organizers are looking for extensive public input to guide the bicycle and pedestrian planning effort. The Oct. 30 workshop will build upon previous planning studies and ideas gathered at preliminary workshops held prior to the 2014 funding award. Future workshops will be at varying times and days to accommodate different scheduling needs. Locations will vary as well, with at least one workshop in each of the three towns. Opportunities to provide written comments will also be available through the Commission’s website.
