The third cohort of the Cape Cod Climate Ambassador Program concluded on May 9, 2023, with students presenting climate projects to their peers. The Cape Cod Commission created the Climate Ambassador Program in 2021 to educate, engage, and empower young people on Cape Cod to work together to combat climate change.

Stormwater runoff, development, erosion, invasive species, and septic system discharge impact the health of Cape Cod's 890 ponds. Across the region, management strategies of different types and scales are being implemented to improve water quality and overall pond health.  

The Metropolitan Planning Organization recently released the draft 2024 Unified Planning Work Program and the draft 2024-2028 Transportation Improvement Program for a 21-day public comment period. 

In accordance with the Public Participation Plan, the Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has released the draft FFY 2024 Unified Planning Work Program, the draft FFY 2024-2028 Transportation Improvement Program, and the draft FFY 2023-2028 Transportation Improvement Program Amendment 2 for a 21-day public review and comment period.  Members of the public are invited to review these documents and provide comments.

For nearly fifty years, satellites have been orbiting the earth collecting imagery to monitor and study the health of our planet. What if we could use those images to learn more about the health of our ponds and lakes? 

The Cape Cod Commission is seeking comments and input from the public to support development of the 2024 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP). An online survey is now open.

To kick off the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) development process, a series of Listening Sessions have been scheduled to gather early public input. Each Listening Session will include a presentation and time for questions and comments. The RTP sets the long-range vision for the transportation system on Cape Cod in 2050. It is the primary means for the allocation of federal and state funds for the Cape's transportation needs.

To keep the community informed, the Cape Cod Commission partnered with Cape Cod Healthcare and the Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment in April 2020 to create an online COVID-19 community alert heat map system showing the numbers of confirmed cases of COVID-19 within Barnstable County. The Cape Cod Commission discontinued updating the application on January 31, 2023.

The 2023 session of the Cape Cod Climate Ambassadors began in a new way: for the first time, students met for the opening meeting in person instead of online.

The Cape Cod Commission is receiving $240,000 in federal grant funding to support the Cape Cod Regional Safety Action Plan through the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program, an initiative designed to improve roads and address traffic fatalities nationwide.
