Regional Transportation Plan 2015 Survey Results

The Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Office (MPO) is currently updating the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) for Barnstable County. This spring, Commission staff collected public input from stakeholders through an online survey, which will be used in the planning process.

Survey respondents used a mapping application to identify locations where they perceived the worst traffic safety and congestion issues. The Commission collected feedback on RTP goals that allowed respondents to help define the vision statement of the document.  They also sought input on the level of support for specific projects, which will help the MPO define long term spending priorities on regional transportation needs.

Respondents repeatedly voiced their support for bicycle, pedestrian and transit projects, encouraging a greater percentage of funding for these projects. Highlights of the survey results can be found in the slides below:

The Regional Transportation plan draft will be released in June 2015. for a list of upcoming meetings, including a public outreach booth at the Hyannis Father’s Day Car Show, please visit http://www.cch20.org/RTP/meetings/
