Cape Cod’s economy was in focus during Day Two. Secretary Mike Kennealy of the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development began the day emphasizing the need to continue to address our critical housing issues in order to allow for positive economic growth on Cape Cod. Navjeet Bal of Social Finance discussed results-based financing for key infrastructure projects that have had success in other parts of the country. Curt Spalding of Brown University spoke about Cape Cod’s vulnerability to climate change, and how we can become an agile and resilient community.

Commission staff and local leaders spoke during breakout sessions on housing diversity, affordability, and implementation of regional plans. Attendees learned about the Blue Economy project that works to enhance our year-round economy through our water and coastal resources. Discussions throughout the afternoon centered on diverse housing options, neighborhood infill, planning efforts, challenges, and tools that help realize the vision of a vibrant future.
