The first year of the new Cape Cod Regional Pond Monitoring Program concludes this month.

Cape Cod is increasingly vulnerable to the effects of sea level rise and storm surge and must prepare for the impact of more frequent and stronger storms. Plenary and breakout sessions on both days of OneCape 2023 highlighted efforts to consider equity and diversity in the planning process and in crafting and implementing strategies to address our region's critical challenges.

Senator Ed Markey took the OneCape stage on Monday, July 31 to share his perspective on a slew of "opportunities disguised as challenges" across the region. Markey was optimistic and enthusiastic as he outlined a list of billions of dollars in federal funding available to help address regional challenges like climate change, infrastructure, water quality issues, and the housing crisis.

The Cape Cod Commission honored two exceptional individuals this year with the 2023 OneCape Award.  The award is presented annually during the OneCape Summit to a person or organization exemplifying outstanding leadership and dedication to Cape Cod.

Over the years, the OneCape Summit has provided a venue for transformational water quality discussions. This year was no different, as plenary and breakout sessions on both days highlighted continued efforts to protect and preserve Cape Cod's freshwater and coastal resources.
