Cape Cod Commission staff will present the Draft Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) 5-Year Update document to the Barnstable County Economic Development Council (BCEDC). The BCEDC will review feedback and responses to the public outreach process conducted for the CEDS. The Barnstable County Economic Development Council will discuss the draft five-year update document, may ask staff questions and potentially vote whether to endorse the Final Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy 5-year update document for the years 2019-2024 and recommend its adoption by the Cape Cod Commission on behalf of Barnstable County.
Discussion and Potential Vote of Alternate Posting Location:
The Barnstable County Economic Development Council members will discuss and potentially vote whether to adopt their website as its official notice posting method for posting meeting notices in accordance with the Open Meeting Law (M.G.L. c. 30A § 18-25) and its regulations (940 CMR 29.00).
The Cape Cod Commission staff will present a draft schedule and outreach plan to inform the public about the grant opportunities available from the Cape Cod License Plate Grant Fund. It is anticipated that Notice of Funding Availability for Micro Grants ($10,000 or less) will be issued in mid-July 2019 with requests reviewed in late summer/early Fall 2019. For Major Grants, a Request for Proposals will be issued in August 2019 with responses due in mid-Fall and awards anticipated by end of calendar year.
The Barnstable County Economic Council (BCEDC) members will discuss the grant schedule and outreach plan and may vote to make recommendations about the final schedule and outreach plan.
On April 23, 2019, the Barnstable County Economic Development Council (BDEDC) adopted a Nominating Process. Staff will review recommended minor changes to streamline the BDEDC’s process to fill vacancies and provide a report of current vacancies to the BCEDC. The BCEDC will discuss and potentially vote on staff’s proposed changes and the Board’s recommendations to fill vacancies on the BDEDC. The BCEDC may vote to appoint two members to the Nominating Committee.

The Chair and Barnstable County Economic Development Council (BCEDC) members will report to the group on activities, events, or current initiatives that may impact or be of interest to the group.
