Transportation
The Cape Cod Commission Act charges the Commission with furthering and coordinating the provision of "adequate capital facilities," including transportation services. Through the goals and standards specified in the Cape Cod Regional Policy Plan, the Commission:
- works to develop short- and long-range transportation plans to fill present and future year-round and seasonal needs
-
performs traffic counts and updates safety data
- studies proposed improvements
- reviews major developments for their impacts on transportation and traffic
The Commission's transportation staff provides technical expertise in transportation and traffic-related matters for the Commission, its staff, and the 15 Cape Cod towns. This includes regulatory reviews, planning projects, and technical projects for towns and the region.
Transportation staff members also coordinate transportation planning activities with federal, state, regional, and local agencies and support the work of the Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization (CCMPO) and the Cape Cod Joint Transportation Committee (CCJTC).

Dial 511 on any cell phone in Massachusetts -- or -- dial one of these local phone numbers: Metro Boston (617) 986 - 5511; Central Mass (508) 499 - 5511; and Western Mass (413) 754 - 5511. You can also go to the MassDOT web site www.mass511.com to sign up for real-time traffic conditions for alerts and gain access to a Mass511 application for smart phones.
