Chief Planner

Leads a team to develop and implement regional comprehensive plans and policies and provide technical assistance to towns developing and implementing local plans. Collaborates on community development, design, and implementation of economic development and strategic housing plans and programs and in the development of community engagement tools and decision support applications. Ability to manage a complex complement of services and functions; interpret complex technical and scientific information and translate for public officials and the general public to guide informed decision making. Ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment managing multiple projects and groups. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of public and private groups including elected officials. Knowledge of landscape architecture and architectural design desired. AICP certification desired.

Requires superior communication, organization, public speaking and presentation skills, independent judgment and initiative. Master’s degree in planning, urban design, environmental science/design, or related field and ten years of experience in land-use planning, land use controls, public administration and management; five or more years of experience should be in a supervisory role; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The position requires knowledge of and experience with regional planning principles and state, regional and local land use regulations and permitting processes in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; experience with general office procedures; excellent oral and written communication skills, public presentation skills, organization skills and project management skills; ability to prepare reports, memoranda and decisions; ability to participate as a member of a team of regulatory officers, planners, engineers and technical staff; and ability to manage projects and work independently.

Bachelor’s degree in planning, environmental science, law or related field; Master’s degree or Juris Doctor preferred; minimum of one year of experience in land use planning or regulatory work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

3 Traffic Technicians - Summer 2019

Traffic Counting Technicians - $16/hr. Download complete job description

Three positions available for the Summer 2019 season (mid May to late August) to set up traffic counters and collect and process data collected from the counters; manage the traffic count database; assist in the Regional Transportation Planning Process and conduct turning movement counts at selected Cape Cod intersections. The ideal candidates will have completed at least one full year of technical courses related to the position (engineering, transportation planning), be familiar with Microsoft Windows, Office, spreadsheet/database programs and Geographic Information Systems.

Valid motor vehicle operator's license and access to a reliable vehicle to perform field work as well as the ability to lift objects up to 30 lbs. required.
