Environmental Economist

Seeking an experienced economist to work as part of a team to craft economic strategies for the region, ensuring an understanding of the value and benefits from the natural environment. Monitor and analyze market and environmental trends and interpret indicators to ascertain the overall health of an environment and the economy. Conduct quantitative research, build models, perform economic, fiscal, and market analyses, and assist with regional planning projects and policy research.

Master’s degree in Environmental or Natural Resources Economics or related field and five years of relevant work experience in economic development and conceiving and implementing policy initiatives involving state and federal agencies; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced Degree preferred. $69,019/yr.

Special Projects Coordinator

Works with staff and stakeholders on a project related to wastewater and water quality infrastructure planning and policy. Complete comparative analysis of ongoing efforts to improve water quality in various regions that includes analysis of regulatory strategies, financial approaches and use of innovative technology. Coordinate with staff to integrate findings into ongoing implementation of water quality improvements plans and projects.

Ability to manage projects, plan, organize, analyze problems, formulate recommendations and prepare reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of public and private groups including elected officials. Knowledge of GIS and other mapping programs, database skills, ability to review and analyze technical scientific reports preferred.

Requires superior communication, organization and computer skills, independent judgment, initiative and attention to detail. Bachelor’s degree in public administration, communications, urban or regional planning, environmental science or related field, plus three years of experience at the local, regional or state level; master’s degree preferred; combination of private and public sector experience desirable; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
