Through the Cape Cod Regional Policy Plan (RPP), the Cape Cod Commission has established goals and policies (a) to prohibit activities that contaminate the water supply, and (b) to support the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and wastes in an environmentally sound manner.
Working with Cape Cod Cooperative Extension, the Commission also supports Cape towns in their efforts to dispose of hazardous waste materials. Barnstable County has negotiated a joint bid that reduces administrative expenses for each participating town. The Cooperative Extension web site offers more information about the types of materials considered hazardous and about the scheduled collection dates and locations on Cape Cod.
