From its inception, the Cape Cod Commission has viewed the issue of affordable housing as a key component of its overall mission. Established in 1990, the Commission serves as the County's land use, regulatory and planning agency. In this capacity the Commission has recognized the critical relationship that exists between development of land-use policies and affordable housing. During this time the Commission has carried out an aggressive strategy to address the Cape's affordable housing needs. Since 1992 the Commission has succeeded in securing over $10 million in housing funds for Barnstable County.
