Hearing - Lowe's of Dennis

The Cape Cod Commission will conduct a public hearing on Thursday, January 9, 2014 beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the First District Courthouse, Assembly of Delegates Chambers, Main Street (Route 6A), Barnstable, MA.  The following Development of Regional Impact (DRI) has been referred to the Cape Cod Commission under Section 13(a) of the Cape Cod Commission Act, c. 716 of the Acts of 1989, as amended, and Sections 3 and 7 of the DRI Enabling Regulations.  At this hearing the full Commission will consider adoption of the draft written decision.  This notice is being published as required by Section 5 of the Cape Cod Commission Act.

  • Project Applicant:  Lowe’s Home Centers, Inc.
  • Project Location:  9, 10, 20 Commerce Street and 55 Theophilus F. Smith Road, Dennis, MA
  • Project Description:  As revised on plans submitted to the Commission on November 6, 2013, the proposed project consists of the construction of a building of approximately 106,609 square foot footprint, including the proposed Garden Center and other areas for a Lowe’s Home Improvement store with 361 parking spaces.  The Applicant’s November 6, 2013 cover letter also state that the “site plans have…been revised to reduce the parking area by fifty (50) parking spaces….A note has been added to the Overall Site Plan, Drawing SP-2 ALT, stating that the applicant has agreed to seek a waiver from the Dennis Planning Board for permission to reduce the parking from 361 spaces to 311 spaces.”  The Applicant’s November 6, 2013 Overall Site Plan and materials submitted also indicates 112,179 square feet of gross floor area, including a 5,570 square foot mezzanine and a separate 1,600 square foot liner building on the site for Office use.
