- The system locks up and has to be killed via the Task Manager if loading .DXF shp files
This is a known issue with ArcMap version 9.2, when loading CAD files across a
network. This behavior has been logged as a bug with the software, and the
tracking ID for this bug is NIM005261. Many users have reported this
behavior, and the Priority for this bug has been set as High. Hopefully it
will be fixed in the near future. Until then, load CAD file onto your local machine. Submitted by Gary Delius, Dec. 06 - Spell Check

- Edgetech has developed an innovative, spatially-smart spell checker extension for ArcMap (patent pending). As an ArcGIS extension, it is simple to install and use, and is fully integrated within ArcMap. It's introductory pricing is $150 for a single user license (volume pricing at www.MapSpeller.com). Currently, it spell checks annotation graphics (graphic text) in data frames or on the page layout. It also has methodologies for spell checking labels and annotation feature classes. MapSpeller supports language, user and danger dictionaries in addition to a spatially-smart customizable locationary. Upcoming releases will add support for legends, hard disk paths and other ArcGIS text objects.
A 60-day complementary evaluation copy is available at www.MapSpeller.com. Each purchase includes the first year of maintenance, including any upgrade during that time. Submitted by Edgetech Representative, Denis Roose. Dec. 07
